BONB meets FHFH!
March 21, 2010
Today I, as President of Bowhunters of New Brunswick, had the pleasure to meet Caroline Truman, President of FHFH (Canada) Inc., (Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry). We are fortunate that she resides here in New Brunswick. I feel that to partner with such a noble organization is a natural step in the progression of our organization.
As the changing landscape of our deer population habitat continues to evolve, with around 80% of the “huntable” deer’s habitat being on private land and inside municipal areas due to the government’s current forestry policies, I feel that both our organizations will come into higher prominence and play a significant role in the managing of our provincial deer herd.
Currently, DNR has implemented a “nuisance” deer program with the onus on the landowner to distribute the “tags,” 1 tag per hunter. If this program expands into a “restricted discharge distance” or “urban” situation, we are taking the necessary steps to have qualified BONB member bow hunters with “advanced training” in place to help with those situations. Also, besides having those bow hunters in place, we are working on setting up a committee that would be able to administrate any such action required.
This is where FHFH would then play a significant role in the processing and distribution of any harvests. We would be working in conjunction with them to make sure any harvested game would reach the hungry people of our province, not giving them “charity” but a helping hand during a difficult period. We look forward to working together to help any and all people get good meals to feed themselves and their families.

GNB (Green Summit) Nicknamed 09/09/09
FHFH Canada was invited to attend the Green Summit held September 9, 2009 at Marysville NB at Marysville Heritage Center. Below are photos of their booth at the summit.
Around the globe massive changes are occurring. The term "green" has come to represent a common blueprint for citizens, businesses, and governments for how we can move towards a more sustainable future. The DSS Green Initiative has been working to accelerate this movement. The Green Summit is the culmination of this year's initiative efforts and a "first" for GNB. In keeping with the objectives of the Green Initiative, the goals of the Green Summit are as follows:
- raise individual consciousness of a person's impact on the environment 24/7;
- accomplish our goal through a series of fun and educational activities that employees can undertake in the
normal course of their daily work;
- link employees together in a common initiative;
- and cultivate and raise an environmental consciousness that will transfer to peoples' lives outside of work.
